Who is MrBarval? A very nice gent who popped in the other day with some delicious Nebbiolo is who! You can’t help but like him even if we are jealous that he spends half the year in Margaret River and half the year in Piedmont. His credentials speak for themselves- ex -Brown Hill, Cullen, ConternoFantino and Elio Altare.

Chatting with Mr B it’s clear he understands the Nebbiolo grape and that he knows that he can’t make Barolo out of Karridale but what he can do is make a delicious juicy expression more along the lines of Langhe Nebbiolo.

The Nebbia 2015 sees an short fermentation, basket press and then 10 months in 3 yr old barrels. This wine is all about juicy, crunchy, freshness and a dry, chewy grippiness. Pinot lovers get aboard the Barval train!

We absolutely love the cherry and almond nose, think Bakewell tart! The palate travels through a mid-palate sweetness to a dry finish that leaves you reaching for some anti-pasto or another mouthful. Fantastic wine, the type of wine that we’ve been hoping for years would be made in WA and we’re stoked MrBarval dropped in with it. Only 280 bottles produced.
